If you grew up in an oversaturated world of advertising and media like I did as a kid, you would appreciate Negativland. Negativland's fans are a collection of all those weird ass kids who grew up with an endless selection of movies, Tv and video games. This is why Negativland is so good because they decided to turn this fever-dream media childhood, into a wild auditory journey of: TV, Advertising, Urban Development, Capitalism. JUST MY TYPE OF IRONY AND SATIRE. And to think I used to think you were weird as fuck... Thank you Negativland for changing my life, Mark Hosler, Richard Lyons (RIP), David Wills/The Weatherman and of course Don Joyce (RIP). Thanks for opening my eyes to this crazy world we live in. I look at life a little different now because of Negativland. Thank You. 💙

You know... I have discovered this band recently but after listening of few albums I felt something that you have described here. I can recommend you band called Коммунизм. Something similar in terms of irony and crazy-ass experimental music from ex-USSR band. More noisy and more melodic in some parts but some releases (for example "Сатанизм" 1981) remind me of Negativland. But listen carefully 😉

Agreed! Although I also found another type of allure, especialy in the Over the Edge series. I remember being super captivated by radio broadcasts as a kid - someone would talk about music, play it, then some news, then a radio play would air, then an interview, a documentary piece, someone reading a novel, etc.. it gave me that reassuring sense of ppl keeping me company, things happening around me while I comfortably observe. Today most of that is gone from the radio, at least where I live. What's left is mostly ads and depressing politics talk. So I follow those Negativland pieces with that old kind of interest, even if they're more like streams of consciousness and randomness:)

They're both great but I think that new one is a bit more consistent and therefore better. Certain men is probably my fav track from them though,
