Nena and The Superyeahs” formed around the mid of 2006 and are the naturall evolution and generational step of the aggressive rock sound played by the LINKS and the warm pop sound played by WASABI: both of them were bands that received wide appreciation by the Italian audience and critics.

The new line-up consists of Matteo Foresti (guitar and backing vocals) and Michele Clivati (Lead guitar and backing vocals), Federico Laini (bass guitar and backing vocals) and Marcello Norrito (drums), whose constituted already the rhythmic part of the LINKS, and Serena Marinelli (lead vocals), the right singer for the project: Italian-English, strong vocal personality and charismatic presence on the stage that enhances the energetic music played by the band.

After the first months of work in studio, the band evolved its sound from the aggressive rock they were playing to something new, a clear cut from the recent past that has brought to a new musical experience characterised by ironic and positive lyrics, something between the modern rock and the sound of a party-pop . The new sound is built up on catchy melodies where the instrumental part leads to unexpected changes in style. As stated by Matteo Foresti, “N&S wants to involve the people around in a party, making them happy and having fun. N&S spreads out in the air their positive vibes. N&S just wanna have fun!… This is what we call the Yeah-mood!”

The band has several and diverse influences whose are summarized in a hybrid and changing sound that mixes the immediateness of the rock played by the Franz Ferdinand and The Wombats and the aggressive sound of The Hives, the sexy and ironic side of Gwen Stefani together with some of the Punk/Disco/Emo sounds listened during their adolescence. The previous influences are mixed up and are just the basis of the band own sound: a style easily recognizable, a colour and a connotation that bring out something fresh, sincere, direct and ironic.

In 2008, Nena and The Superyeahs have played in some of the most important italian music festivals (Give it a Name, Heineken Jammin Festival, Sun'n Sound, Cube Festival, Ypsigrock …) and have shared the stage with Silvertein, Story of the Year, The Audition, Vanilla Sky, Bluvertigo, Fratelli Calafuria, Bedouin Soundclash, Art Brut, The Styles, Amari, il Genio and many others.
