New Models were an American post-punk band from Boston. The New Models caught their first big break when they attracted the attention of the Cars’ David Robinson, who asked them to open for the Cars at their 1980 Boston Garden concert. A series of favorable reviews was followed by circulation of a tape produced by The Cars' Ric Ocasek at his newly opened Synchro Sound Studio. The tape, consisting of the tunes “Permanent Vacation” and ”Shattered Windows,” became a local hit. It was released as a self-titled 7" in 1981.
