I've lived my life in the valleys, I've lived my life on the hills, I've lived my life on alcohol, I've lived my life on pills, But it's called love, And it belongs to us...

The moment when they got Joy Division out of their system. Not that JD were a bad band (of course they weren't) but eventually NO had to leave the past behind and do their own thing.

Not holding a note was widely accepted in British music in the 80s. People liked the "anyone can do this" feel. Bands were mostly down-to-earth and approachable. It was a counterreaction to the aloof, self-indulgent megastars of the 70s.

Is it just me, or do the verses of this sound like the verses of The Human League's "Don't You Want Me?" (The synth is a dead give-away.)

I wished i listened to the radio more often at that time, I love songs from the 80s their lyrics have meaning in them rather than most songs right now
