"the home-recording with just voice, guitar is magnificent. i feel the strings and cymbals really take away from the studio version. the guitar part is incredible in itself. " I kinda agree. I really love Robert Kirby's string arrangment but it's like... the acoustic demo is beautiful and you can't really make it more beautfiul than that. Even by adding beautiful things.

@ adamhimself's comment, john cale didn't do the string arrangements, robert kirby did. cale is only featured on fly and northern sky.

john cale's string arrangements are gorgeous in this track. very expressive (unlike his usual drone-y approach with velvet underground.)

I think it's wonderful that Nick now gets the recognition across the generations that so few of us realised at the time. I fell in love with his music aged about 13/14 when I heard Time Has told Me on the Nice Enough To Eat album (Island Sampler) and despite going through phases of listening to many forms of music Nick has always been there. This is one of his most beautiful songs.

A truly great song. The strings are more tastefully done on this track and don't really bother me at all.

Do you curse where you come from, Do you swear in the night Will it mean much to you If I treat you right. Do you like what you're doing, Would you do it some more Or will you stop once and wonder What you're doing it for.

I love the way he weaves his songs together. Its so unusual, with the strange tempos and off beats and sudden guitar and smooth melodies and voice sitting all impossibly perfectly together. Beautiful man.

This is the track that I discovered Nick Drake through. Reminds me of sitting on top of a mountain in Wales on a summer day.

Nick Drake, the perfect music for all seasons. It sounds sad but it makes me feel so good.
