Shut up, the background vocals are awesome. It's depressing hearing how many people would like all the music to sound the same.

Come on, people, they don't ruin the song. I kinda like them. The piano really makes it, though.

Seriously, there used to be a VERY rare acoustic recording of this song - it was taken off YouTube and I can't find it ANYWHERE online... Anyone know of this? Thanks.

@pogopatterson - People need to stop using the term "sell-out". Honestly. Any artist selling their music or selling merchandise relating to their music are "sell-outs".

I always wonder what everyone's problem is with the orchestration on Nick Drake's early work. I think it sounds great.

Could be branded a sell out type song. But then again you could also argue, that this is just Nick being happy. I have a slight uncomfortableness with people who like to dip in and out of Nick's music in order to feel melancholly. Nick obviously wasn't just in a melancholly mood when he wrote some of his stuff, but suffering from depression.

I also like the Bossa Nova background, very swinging, and melancholic too "I wish to be a little happy, because being too happy I would miss my melancholy" (Erika Pluhar from Austria)

I actually completely agree with Daddoman and Strong Bad. Great song, mediocre execution in my opinion. It's really a matter of taste. As someone who considers Pink Moon Nick's magnum opus, him recording with a bunch of other people doesn't make too much sense to me considering he was such a loner. His output was still great, but nothing compares to the barren beauty of Pink Moon, and it's a true shame that he never lived to record anything like it again. I love Five Leaves Left and Bryter Layter, but that's my opinion and I see where Daddo and StrongBad are coming from.

Daddoman and StrongBad87 are crazy [2] I'd have to agree there, Poor Boy is such a wonderful tune.

"I've always been mad, I know I've been mad, like the most of us are." Honestly, I think Poor Boy is the less Drakian song of his discography and, even if I like more or less everything he wrote and composed, I think only this is the worst track even if i don't dislike it. ; )

This song sounds a lot like pink floyd - "I'll see you on the dark side of the moon" Just a bit with the background singers and the like.
