The deep, dark voice that is Tanita Tikaram reflects on her collaboration with the legendary Nick Lowe and reveals why her hit song, "Twist In My Sobriety," isn't really about drinking at all (despite what Liza Minnelli may tell you!): http://www.songfacts.com/blog/interviews/tanita_tikaram/

I'm familiar with his work with Elvis Costello, but not as much with his own material... any suggestions as to what albums of his to check out first?

Anyone new to Nick Lowe (seems to be a resurgence of interest since Wilco resurrected 'I love my label') should check out Lowe's previous bands; Rockpile, Brinsley Schwarz, and if you can find it, Kippington Lodge - KL was his first band and they played some awesome psychedelic stuff in the late 60s.

I just got "Quiet Please" and am getting into the stuff beyond the first few albums. Any recommendations for 90s-00s Nick Lowe?

I downloaded 'Labour Of Lust' album after hearing 'Cruel To Be Kind' on the radio one day. 'Switchboard Susan' is an underrated song from that album. The thing is that I cant find his albums on amazon, have most gone out of print? Im pondering getting the new compilation hes just put out but Id rather just get all his albums.

His new CD/DVD compilation - Quiet Please... The New Best of Nick Lowe - is absolutely awesome. Includes a concert recorded in Belgium in 2007 and some rare music videos.
