She is totally original and she is not like the rest of mainstream garbage. Nikka Costa is really great at all levels. She is good like Melanie Fiona is. People should go check her out as well.

v Dude, F.Y.E. is still around? I haven't been to one in ages... I'm pretty sure the one at my mall closed. :(

I was hesitant but I am very glad that I had decided to buy her Pebbles to a Pearl Album yesterday at FYE's Used CD Bin. Now, I am interested in her other Albums! She is fantastic!

@HankMulder, a little confused and curious as to which two albums are you referring to, the ones she recorded as a child or Butterfly Rocket and EGTS, or EGTS and Cantneverdidnothin? She's done 7 albums and the ProWhoa EP.

Nikka has always covered a wide variety of genres; she's been recording since she was a child. All of her albums mash together different styles but I feel that she maintains a common thread through all of them and I think that applies to PROWHOA. "Ching Ching Ching" reminds me of "Stuck To You" and "Til I Get To You" and "Head First" sounds like it could have come off of Everybody Got Their Something. PROWHOA is a really good album, imo, and it continues themes and trends she's established on previous albums.

Wow, reading the comments from the so-called "fans" are really interesting. Nice to see people using descriptive words they don't truly know the definition of. First of all, the new album is not an "electro-pop" album and it is DEFINITELY not a "bubblegum pop" album. It's definitely still funk and rock, just polished with electro-pop elements. Got it?

I love the new album. It sounds like same great Nikka to me. It may not be soul, but most of the songs definitely have a lot of funk and it goes well with her other albums.
