"The Eater Of Dreams" is the first track on the 2013 release Hesitation Marks, notable for being the shortest in length of all of Nine Inch Nails' catalog. A short introduction track in the tradition of "Pinion" and "999,999," it begins with rhythmic blips of noise, then adds synth layers that pulse at quarter notes. As layers add, its volume swells, and brief snippets of vocals enter in the background before the track suddenly cuts off. While the song is an instrumental, a short vocal can be heard at the beginning in a distorted quiet tone, and at the end in a loud distorted tone twice. It is currently unknown what is being said.
