Biography

Since the handshake of Daniel and Ian, a late night (or maybe it was a early morning?) back in 1996, agreeing on starting a band, the music of Daniel, Hanseman, Inti, Tori and Ian have been teasing ears and souls.
With this excact line-up, excluding the original drummer Arild, who left the band late 1997, the group have wandered from the leaves of hip-hop/funk-pop unto the lands and maze of electro-rock.

On the rebound of losing the drummer, and under great influence of the Bristol sound, the quintett gave birth to NUD and introduced the electronic device Roland MC-505 as an important “member” of the line-up.

Throughout 1998 the band used a lot of time testing, forming and shaping the formula of NUD. This creative year was manifested on NUD`s first recording “Five chapters from the naked story”, recorded by Endre Kirkesola in dub studios spring 1999. “Five chapters…” altered to NUD`s first gig at the Quart-festival summer 1999, and marked the beginning of a sound yet to be tamed.

The following two years NUD did a lot of live gigs and focused on developing as a live act. Touring most of southern Norway the five souls grew a big love for the road and its ongoing experiences. This winding road-trip led to the meeting with two Italian boys in Bergen, Norway. With Influence and guidence of producer and engineer Daniele Bonvicini and Davide Bertolini the making of NUD`s second E.P. “Rising to five thousand” was a fact. The recording was taped during dark nights at Grieghallen Studios in Bergen November- December 2000. With this production NUD was recognised by national radio and made album of the week in NRK’s radioshow “urort”= “untouched”.

Inspite of limited success in Norway and several offers NUD never completed an agreement on a record deal. This was because the independence and the principle of integrity in NUD’s sound always has been an issue of argument before signing. So when NUD was ready to release their first album there was no label-contract standing. This fact made the band seek investors and start their own label,
LITTLE LABEL a/s. (pleace visit us at www.littlelabel.no)

The history of NUD is far from over, and the new chapter is yet to come. NUD’s associates in Productions Speciales and Supermusic will do what's in their pover so that the story can continue in your CD- player.

THE MAKING OF
"stuck between rock and a hard place"

——————————————————————————–
The recordings started with a studio-session in Grieghallen Studios in Bergen with Davide Bertolini and drummer Øystein Bergsvik. This session late autumn 2001 included the recording of the albums first single “a song for Simon”. The recordings for the album continued troughout all of 2002 and included all of NUD’s previously unrecorded material. Some of the titles were recorded and produced by our friend Stein R. Sordals in his “Brown sound Motel”. The additional tracks were recorded at Samsen Studios with guiding hand of engineer and co-producer Daniel Glaister. It is on these recordings the acquaintance with NUD’s rental drummer, Ove Nesheim, is made.
After the process of excluding songs from the playlist, the album “Stuck between rock and a hard place” was ready for release friday 14. of March 2003
