I didn know the band. This played in my random selection and I was really into it... So i got to the previous album and so... Not so into it. I hope their new album is as heavy and intricate as this song is

Oceans of Slumber quits Century Media: “After quite a dynamic string of releases and a somewhat strained relationship the entirety of it, we’ve left Century Media Records. In this day and age it doesn’t make sense to stay for the sake of staying. We just don’t fit the mold anymore and it’s better to part ways as friends.” Members’ departure: “We are also leaving behind our guitarist Xan and Jessie Santos in all of this. Life and life’s decisions almost always take precedence over this ungiving and unforgiving way of life. Xan left to pursue a new career last year and Jessie the same just shortly after the beginning of the year.” The beginning of a brand new album: “We’re writing some of the heaviest material we’ve ever written. It’ll have all the grit and twang we’ve come to love, with more than a spoonful of the intensity we all love from our past.”

I listened to their self-titled so much, trying so hard to get into it. There are moments of brilliance and Cammie Gilbert is the star that shines brightest, but I couldn't wholeheartedly get into their style. But Starlight and Ash? Holy hell, it's amazing. Stylistic shifts won't win everyone over, but it worked on me.

New album's an absoloute banger, I don't super miss the harsh vocals but I can understand those who do. But this new one has a much more unique character to me, really like where they're going. Only thing I'd say is man, after the Nights In White Satin cover I had way bigger hopes for House Of The Rising Sun...

Although I liked what I heard from this band before, I really loved the full blown gothic turn they adopted. Starlight and Ash reminded a lot of another album, Summerland by Dool. Everyone who liked this new album would probably like Dool too

Latest album is their best by far. I don't really care if it's less heavy than their previous stuff. It sounds fresh and every song on it is good.

Sure, there are no harsh vocals and it's not metal. It still slaps though because Cammie.

For some odd reason I always thought this was a metalcore band. Little did I know I was missing some nice gothic tinged prog awesomeness

Somewhat mystifying they don't have a bigger audience... so much going for them.

This band could be so much more. When they get there, they will crush almost everything else... until then, it's just pieces of what could be. Unfortunate.

I like this band but I feel the production or mixing of their latest two albums is bad, both vocals sound too echoed (most notorious in The Banished Heart) plus I feel they use too much the blast beats, making the songs too repetitive and sometimes boring. My favourite album is still Winter

One of the best revelations of the metal scene, at least for me, alongside with Ne Obliviscaris.

The vocals area touch too high in the mix, and aside from some blastbeats, they've really paired down the technicality on this album, and there's much less focus on the instrumentals. But nitpicks aside, it's just phenomenal.
