Oliva Trencada is a band from Mallorca that combines traditional music from Mallorca with elements of English/American Folk-pop.
Oliva Trencada are Pep Toni Ferrer (guitar and vocals), Floren Guillen (vibraphone, keyboards and vocals), Victor Dorado (bass), Jordi Vidal (Backpipe, flute and percussion), Michael Mesquida (drums and percussion).
Some Oliva Trencada members have played in other bands such as Satellites, El Diablo en el Ojo, Sexy Sadie, Petit, Trailer or Nova Ternura.
The first Oliva Trencada album was "La música de la calma" (2007 FONA), where we can find charismatic songs, telling and singing stories about farmers, footballers, people who work in the markets, about the beloved ones, about a shop assistant at a photography store… everyday stories that tell us that what we have closer is best, the identity of people through their own culture.
In 2008 Oliva Trencada released their second album "Lluneta del pagès" (2008 FONA), 12 original songs based on a collection of 12 poems originally written by Maria Antònia Salvà. Released as a book-CD, includes a DVD with a live performance at «Palabra y Música» Festival, featuring Oliva Trencada along with Maria Antònia Oliver reciting the original poems written by Maria Antònia Salvà.
