Biography

  • Founded In

Encinitas, San Diego County, California, United States

Operatic was a rock/alternative band from San Diego,California, with Jesse Fritsch on guitars/vocals, Josh Vargo guitar/keyboards, Andrew Simpson bass/cello, and Ted Humphfey on the drums. Began playing in 2003 when Josh and Jesse got some feedback on the music they've done for a series of Etnies and Emerica shoes commercials. Then after meeting their drummer, Ted and after the breaking in of their new bass player Andrew, things finally started coming together. The band got the honor, according to Fritsch, of opening Face to Face's farewell tour in summer 2004 and landed a song (Interested In Madness) in a Tony Hawk video game-even before their first EP was recorded.Their debut EP, ''Killing Us Is Easy'' was released on January 1st, 2005 and was well received by critics. They also got an appearance at the dvd series ''Punk Rock Film School' '(directed by Darren Doane) as a subject to show how to make a professional music video for cheap. Their only music video of ''Interested in Madness' was directed by Ozzie Clarke and filmed by Cody Caldwell and Drew Laue, filmed in Venture, California and was premiered by Jesse on ''Fuel TV's Daily Habit''.

Operatic was a band for a few years, but now is over due to being unable to break into the mainstream music industry, personal problems and piracy of their music which drove them into a depressive spiral where their true fans didn't even pay for their records or turn up to their gigs.
