Been listening to the 2002 reissue a bit lately, and while I think it was wrong to re-record the drum and bass parts, I don't think they're that bad. My only complaint is that the bass is a bit too high in the mix, but it's played fine. Don't have any issues with the drums. Some of the overdubs are a bit more prominent, but I think that actually works quite well. Weird decision, but the controversy was overhyped.

I got into Ozzy in late 2002 so those reissues were fresh on the shelves at the time. It's the way I first heard this and Diary for years. Back then the Internet wasn't quite the same extensive place of knowledge as it is today, and I barely knew a word of English to help me find out about the re-recordings either. Nowadays I prefer the originals but every time I go back to the reissues I don't think they're terrible. They're quite faithfully re-recorded imo. What bugs me the most is how the drums obviously lack the genuine vintage sound of Lee Kerslake's original takes.

Probably the most overrated classic metal album. Two or three interesting songs in a sea of forgettableness.

Whatever floats your boat. Music history and today's listeners highly disgree with you. By the way, what the fuck is "classic metal"? And how many albums have you listened to (multiple times; one play = no play!) to come up with such a bold statement? Seems like one of those posts that can be copied and pasted on pretty much every album page without any changes. Well, at least you got the spelling right. 😎

Party time! ... it's the 40th anniversary - today - since Ozzy's debut album was released! ... Can we increase the scrobbles from 4.8 million to 5M this month? ... Time to re-listen, friends

No Bone Movies feels like a light-hearted filler, but the rest of the album kicks ass.

A masterpiece. Varied with different songs, you have Crazy Train - which is a funny and fast song, Goodbye to Romance - a beautiful ballad i will skip the others, they are all very good. Suicide Solution is probably my favourite, though.

"No Bone Movies" to me sounds kinda like a middle-age man's bar rock, making it feel a little out of place maybe. Otherwise it's a pure masterpiece with my favorite guitarist ever. I love Randy Rhoads' guitar sound!

Original pressing is better than the remaster. The remaster seems to weaken the punch of the guitar, in my opinion.
