Biography
Brooklyn band Pacific Theater is proud to announce the release of their 2009 debut album. The fruit of approximately a year's work, Animals at Night combines the diverse sounds of new wave, shoegaze and art rock with exacting Brooklyn aesthetics.
Driving percussion, dynamic vocals, layered guitars, accordion and synthesizers are hallmarks of the Pacific Theater sound. Tracks such as Dead Language and Refugee burst with peaks of energy, while Wicked Fire and Jacket Weather simmer with melancholy and light.
In the summer of 2008, band members Daniel Ryan, (vocals, guitar) Daniel Bellury, (bass, guitar, synthesizer) Gina Yates, (vocals, piano, synthesizer, accordion, oboe) and Adam Travis, (drums, drum machine, synth, guitar) recorded the album at a church-cum-recording studio in Montreal. From there, mixing was completed by Mark Lawson (Arcade Fire, Beirut, Final Fantasy) in late 2008 and mastering by Paul Gold (Grizzly Bear, Juan Maclean, Sufjan Stevens) in January 2009.
