The seventh song of Paramore’s second album "Riot!" is a conversation of Hayley with herself and with God; she talks about her depression, getting through self-hate, and self-injury.

In live performances, the song is usually followed by an outro that fans have grown to love; the outro says:

"I asked for love. I asked for mercy. I asked for patience, but you’re already all of these things. If I knew what I needed… if I knew what was good for me… I’d be down on my knees begging please, please, please, let your light shine bright inside of me."

Hayley talked about this song on Parahoy. She said:

"This song started in 2005, that’s when it began, just the guitar riff. We were touring with a band called My American Heart and it was our first year on the road, we were learning a lot about ourselves and touring. My dad was driving us on the van because none of us were old enough and he would go “five minutes early is fifteen minutes too late” so we would be there 3 hours before soundcheck and we worked on this song everyday."
