The fifth track on the album explores the mindstate of someone who committed suicide due to depression.
We see the subject had lost all hope with the narrator in disbelief as to how they could have taken such drastic actions. While it seems as if this could’ve been prevented the subject is caught up and absorbed in a constant self-hate that sadly becomes their undoing.
The band said on this webcam chat:
"‘When It Rains’ is about essentially the same thing that like, for pessimists is about when, like, someone lets you down because they’re letting themselves down, or something, or they’re not trying."
