Biography
Pej (stylised as “pej”) are a four-piece band from Reading, Berkshire, UK. Their genre shifts from post-punk, to noise rock, to math rock, to post-rock, to shoegaze, and back again. Founded in late 2018, their current line-up consists of Vincent (guitar/vocals), Alex (guitar/vocals), Simon (bass), and Harry (drums). The band’s influences include black midi, Radiohead, Battles, the Cure, Black Country, New Road, and more. After making a buzz in the local Reading scene with their theatric, effects-laden, and downright noisy performances, pej are looking to play in other towns and cities. The band had previously self-released demo singles and an EP. “Meatbirds (or lack thereof)” is a two-track extended play released in November, 2019. The demo single “Tusk” was also released later in the same month. Pej’s first studio single, “100 Years of Solitude” was released in November 2023. A regular fixture on Reading and London gig line-ups, pej songs have become fan-acclaimed ‘Reading classics’ of the modern local scene.
