Permanent Fatal Error (PFE) is a french/italian post-rock band created in 2002 by Olivier Manchion, Ulan Bator founder member, and long time Faust collaborator. He defines this music as deaf-blues. PFE first album was recorded in the mountains near Reggio Emilia, IT in 2003 by Manchion with Giulio Vetrone, Nicolas Marmin, Francesco Billét and entitled "Law speed". It was released in 2004 by Law Speed Recordings, Wallace, Ruminance, Klangbad, and followed by concerts in France (Mouvement and Musiques Volantes festival), and Italy. From 2005 to 2007, when Manchion was touring again with Ulan Bator and Faust, PFE turned into solo (London, Paris, Milano…), or duo performances with Vetrone (Popmontreal festival, CAN). He also performed as PFE "Deaf sun/Deaf blues" in duo with the videast Andrea Bernabini (Santarcangelo and Noboddady festivals, IT). Pfe just released in stream the Symphonie désertique e.p., and announced a new LP for 2008 with new members Seb Martel, Nicholas Thomas and Franck Lantignac (first Ulan Bator drummer).
