Storytime. I first heard this song on Russian TV in, like, 1993-1995, when I was around 9-10. I barely knew English back then, I didn't know who Pet Shop Boys were and actually wasn't aware of much non-Russian music. I recorded it on a tape on a whim, alongside Elton John's "Sacrifice" and The Jacksons' "Can You Feel It". I think of those three songs as one of my earliest contacts with English-language music. Those three songs are so fucking important to me. Since then I saw Pet Shop Boys live twice, and they're still one of my favourite artists.

Musicians are not meant to end war and poverty. Musicians are there to provide hope, relief, joy and awareness. They spread empathy in a way that no TV news or politicians are able to. Art fucking matters. Sarcasm is so tiresome and really doesn't do anything helpful ever.

So beautiful! They are so right saying that music will last forever because a world without music would no be worth it.
