Amazing...#1 on my list of albums. Give me a deserted island with this album and I would die a happy man. Inspiring...awesome...disturbing....powerful.

The cover is one of my favourites. The normal cover that is. Not that monstrosity. (shudders)

Cardinal icon of my own private mythos, The Last Temptation of Christ. A greater book than film, but still a wonderful film and remarkable soundtrack from Gabriel. Very deep, important stuff.

They may be hard to find now, but "Passion" (and "Passion Sources", which is even rarer) started Peter Gabriel's world music label and pushed the genre further into public view. Music from this album has been played in all sorts of venues, including (I think) every Olympics that has taken place from 1992 on.

I love how Pete at times constructs a piece based on rhythm. Always managing to variate the elements of the beat, he's one of the best at sustaining a melody underneath without ever seeming to tire the listener. Much of his work on this album is a (pun intended) testament to this unique compositional skill.

Seriously, if Zaar is the best track, I don't think it's worth a listen. Zaar is just random noises.
