Great album that provides a terrific example of how intelligent music can appeal to the public at large and how a great artist can reach a wide audience without dumbing down his music. I don't think I'd call So PG's best, but it's certainly a great record featuring one great song after another. I think "Big Time" is probably my favorite tune here, but "Red Rain" is awesome too-- what a way to kick off an album! Highly recommended, and a wonderful starting point for a prospective Peter Gabriel fan.

The very inventive videos that Peter did for several of the tracks helped propel this album on the sales charts as well. Those videos got VERY high coverage on MTV at the time. MTV used to be very influential in that regard, but sadly those days are long gone now.

Masterpiece, one of the best albums of the 80s and the best of Gabriel along with Peter Gabriel III

Gabriel > Collins. "He sold out. Probably got jealous of Phil Collins success." Seriously? Clearly you haven't heard We Do What We're Told and This Is The Picture.

In Your Eyes was played at my friend's wedding yesterday, during the ceremony when they kissed! Amazing.

I wish there was a huge love symbol for this entire album. Such great songs throughout - "Mercy Street", "In Your Eyes", "Red Rain", and of course the commerical biggie "Sledgehammer". This may be Peter Gabriel's most accessible album, but that doesn't make it any less brilliant.
