I used to not like this song, but it's grown on me so much, and now it's one of my favorites from Saucerful of Secrets. I love Richard Wright's vocals and his gentle mellotron playing. Oh, and there's a xylophone in this one too!

Listening to the second album "A Saucerful Of Secrets" released in July 1968 in the USA. David Gilmour was added to the band. The idea was to keep Syd on board as a non performing (no live shows) member. Song written and vocal performed by Wright.

By the way the working title of this song was "The Most Boring Song I've ever Heard"... :D

I love the way Pink Floyd songs feel. But on this one the feeling just wasn't enough recently-I feel like I miss some of it's meaning, and it bothers me. Anyone care to explain please?

"sits on a stick near the river, laughter in his sleep, sister throwing stones, hoping for a hit, he doesn't know, so then, she goes up while he goes down......i think this song is about a sister killing his brother.... =\

"she'll be selling plastic flowers on a sunday afternoon." don't know why, but that line hits home.

loved this album as a teenager. i'm astonished that all people seem to assert that this music is 'rock', 'classic rock', 'progressive rock' and all those meaningless. we never thought about "rock" when hearing this music, the hot music of this time was called BEAT, and pink floyd was NOT beat. it was PSYCHEDELIC, and that's what it's all about. this is the most precise and specific tag, and the others are for accountants :-) BTW since 'ummagumma' PF switched from psychedelic to art rock, doesn't stop people to tag them and their music as "psychedelic" ... reality changes quicker than people's mind :-)
