Biography
Formed in 2013 in Charlotte, NC, Poor Blue is the new southern roots-rock project from Mick E, aka Michael Stephens, head man of legendary Irish post-punk combo The Mighty Shamrocks. He's joined by Otis Hughes (bass) and Frank Hoffmann (drums). Their sound is a unique blend of Delta and country blues, punk and classic rock, jazz, classic country, bluegrass, rockabilly, and the wide world of music from didgeridoo to disco…
Poor Blue spent over a year in Catalyst Recording in Charlotte with engineer Rob Tavaglione, recording their debut album "You're Welcome". Most tracks were recorded on analog 16 track tape and transferred to digital for overdubs and mixing. They tried to keep the live-in-the-studio feel of the band playing the songs and used as few overdubs as possible. Most tracks are first or second takes.
