they definitely had some death metal elements on their debut album (and to lesser extent on the second), and 'Satan's Curse' is one of the very first proper death metal songs ever, I would say. But this was achieved as a by-product, apparently. I mean Possessed wanted to sound evil and ominously, but without an actual intent to go beyond thrash metal rules, merely accidentally inventing the ingredients of death metal, such as its death metal-style tremolo riffs. This explains why they didn't explored death metal territory any further later in the 80s. Although it must be mentioned that during the early 90s they actually released few demo recordings with pure death metal sound, similar to Morbid Angel and Cannibal Corpse, but this doesn't count I guess. So I agree that Possessed are better described as a thrash metal band in general, yet this does not prevent them from being one of the pioneers of death metal either.

I definitely prefer later bands to come out of this genre but it's still enjoyable nonetheless

More variety, it’s more unique, more intriguing, the vocals sound much more menacing here. Don’t get me wrong seven churches is very good but that album just feels dry when you compare it to this. I get a lot people don’t like this album as much since it’s much thrashier but with death metal in that period of time it’s no big deal.

it's so sad that death metal started out like this. It pains me to even think that people could possibly enjoy this garbage ass band that calls themselves death metal. You'd be better off listening to Metallica or Megadethm.. yep your heard me fucking right

I like the early primitive form of death metal. Its ruthless and crude yet still delivers

Wouldn't mind them being in my top 50 all time artists, it makes sense since I'm into so much death and thrash music!

Beyond the Gates is underrated! I honestly haven't heard Seven Churches in ages, as i only own Beyond the Gates (should get Seven Churches too, preferrably on vinyl as well, and probably the rest of their stuff too, The Eyes of Horror EP was good too IIRC, haven't heard the reunion album yet). Either way, BtG is some awesome Deathrash too, can't understand why a lot of people seem to hate it so much... :/

I wish all of the demos from the 1990s would get master tape quality restorations

The deal they signed covers three albums, so two more to go! Hopefully Jeff will recover well throughout this year from surgery.

are you implying that the drumsound is ultimately watered down? you must realise that often it's not a band crew who has last words regarding final sound quality. mastering engineer pretty much forces certain standard to make sure record will be more accessible for audience but not necessarily better sounding. he fucked it up here for sure, record is trying to evoke all the memories of their legacy but at the same time feels like little bitch compared to beyond the gates, ironic.

I'm not implying anything, just telling you to listen to the first two albums if that's the sound you're looking for. Gotta admit though, that "Revelations Of Oblivion" at times sounds like it's caught between the two aforementioned dimensions. Nevertheless, in 2019 it's probably hard to find any producers/sound engineers who're really able to recreate the sound of the past in a "dignified" way, which also leads me to the next question: Did Possessed even want to sound like 33 years ago or did they have the goal to sound like 33 years ago but with "modern" mixing and mastering. Anyway, "Revelations Of Oblivion" isn't half as bad as I thought it'd turn out to be and it's enjoyable. There's been much worse Re-Unions and other failures.

ritual is pretty good but i'm not going to jump into hype train just because they decided to release something after 33 years. still can barely stand the overly digitized production, is not at the level of other modern shit but still thorn in ear, also these drum fills /intros parts are too loud in the mix compared to rest of material.

Yes, but another operational problem with general relativity is the difficulty to do calculations, because of the complexity of the mathematical tools used. Integral of path in contrast has been used in mechanics since the end of the 19th century and is well known. In addition Path integral is a formalism used both in mechanics and quantum theories so it might be a good starting point for unifying general relativity and quantum theories. Some quantum features like the Schrödinger equation and the heat equation are also related by Wick rotation. So the Wick relation is a good tool to relate a classical phenomenon to a quantum phenomenon.

No! Gravitinos are fermions, which means that according to the spin-statistics theorem they must have an odd number of spinorial indices. In fact the gravitino field has one spinor and one vector index, which means that gravitinos transform as a tensor product of a spinorial representation and the vector representation of the Lorentz group. This is a Rarita-Schwinger spinor.

I saw 'em live and they kick ass! Jeff Becerra sounds like the way he did in 1985! He still has it! Possessed rocked the Mid-Hudson Civic Center!

Nunca entendi as criticas, mas o Beyond the Gates e sua propositada infernal produção foi na altura algo completamente out of the box, muito ahead of its time, e por muito que tantas outras bandas tentassem lá chegar, nunca foi alcançado tal patamar. Talvez tudo aquilo que de mal dizem do BTG me fassa supramaneiramente amá-lo. Ainda hoje se torna incansável aos meus ouvidos. Cheers \m/
