How dafuq did I go this long as an 80s junkie without discovering this band?? My god. Steve McQueen is a fucking brilliant LP. I've listened to it just 1 1/2 times and I'm already thinking of making room for it in my top 10 or top 20 all time albums. Seriously. It's that great. The songwriting, the performances, the hooks, the knack for planting little surprises, earworms, subtle twists & turns in the arrangements... stellar. The production by Thomas Dolby is sublime.

Probably their best track from their best album. It's unbelievable how many people know nothing about this band. They are superb - one of my favourite albums of all time. Definitely the best album of 1985

The first side is almost perfect, up there with some of the best music of the 80s, the second side isn't as stellar but overall this album is wonderful. [2]

Most Sprout fans regard this as their finest hour ***. It has aged very well, and with Appetite, Bonny, Goodbye Lucille and of course the timeless When Love Breaks Down, it's hard to fault. (*** I came to 'em late though (1990!!!) so it's Jordan for me - the best £9.99 I ever spent in ASDA).
