Perfection 💜. Rock, Pop, Soul, Psychedelia, Hip Hop and a dash of r&b. Prince was a master chef when it came to those ingredients.

Is "L" stands for logic? I am not a native speaker. If so logic says it is just your opinion becasue it pertains to taste. Opinions are placeholders for facts. Taste is subjective therefore can not be factual. So we do not argue with tastes. We are just talking about them. Also you do not need to cope with it. Someone else's taste does not exist in you so it does not concern you. But an expressed opinion? It is a meme that wants to populate you. That is scary, do not you think?

So many great tracks: Endorphinemachine, We March, The Most Beautiful Girl In The World, Dolphin, Shy, Eye Hate You, Gold, and Billy Jack Bitch (dat horn section, tho <3). One of Prince's best albums, and the best one he released post-Sign 'O' the Times.

Such a shame about the legal issue seemingly preventing this album from being re-released. I really want this on purple (or any colour) vinyl...

Newpower Soul and Rave are the nadir. I don't like besmirching P's work (especially now) but I have to be honest.

Rave can be very good in a right mood. Too much good songs here to be considered nadir, imo. If we add 'Beautiful Strange' on this list, i would easily take it over D&P

I think D&P is an appreciably better record but I can totally understand why people rank it low. A shame the O[+> album wasn't as commercially successful... while imperfect, it's one of the best r&b records of the early '90s imo and a high-point of new jack swing, which Prince vicariously created through Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis.

I would not rank D&P low - thats a great album - but in retrospect it sounds like straight and tight album - it was 'planned' to sound like that, in comparasion to Rave who looks like some candy which was planned to sound super commercial with some catchy flavours, but finished tasting like aaa... decent cookie with some wierd twist. Much more Princely layers that you can dig out - especially with headphones on. Having remix makes it even more attractive, like some expanded edition. Man'o'War - is remarkable piece, sublime composition, i noticed that fans are divided on this one from meh to great. O[+> is huge piece of art, as a whole its even a bit scary on what level Prince was in that time. D&P - O[+> - Come - TGE ~ who does this much greatness in a row? damn...

Don't forget Exodus! Two of my all time favourite Prince/NPG songs on that disc.

Yeah, to be fair it wasn't a steep decline but the albums definitely became patchier.

Hm, I don't know. I think there was a lot of good stuff after this one. Although I suppose I would take the first half of his career over the second half.

Been re-listening to my Prince collection recently. His discography definitely went downhill after this one. Thankfully he reversed the trend with The Rainbow Children.

v I could argue there's a lot more than one or two tracks of cruise control, but I mainly just dropped by to add, holy shit, I just noticed that little flute melody from the segue right before "Gold" was borrowed by Ween in "The Mollusk". Way cool.

...well The Gold Experience certainly isn't AS outwardly commercial - it's less fixated on aping contemporary trends (but I think Prince did this very well on O(+>, despite a few embarrassing lyrics). If you can argue that O(+> is overproduced and overwritten then I think you can argue that The Gold Experience has one or two tracks where Prince is on cruise control...

Some of Prince's best commercial joints on O(+> but maybe that's what puts some people off... it's definitely not perfect but then what '90s Prince album is?!

It's so much better without the interludes. People kept saying how rocky and awesome it was, but it never connected unitl I made a playlist of it without the NP operator. Much cooler. Some of the synths/keyboards sound incredibly dated, notable in Gold...which is a shame.

One of his best Albums (IMO) someone needs to get off their lazy A** and start printing new copies A.S.A.P

Yeah.. I dint get this at the time, leaving it unlistened to until it was deleted. It was ahead of its time and in fact still sounds strangely futuristic in 2009
