the holy grail of 80s hip hop along with 3 feet high and rising, paid in full, and paul's boutique. if this inspired industrial/experimental hip hop, wouldn't be surprised at all

I barely listen to hip hop, but damn this album is good and I do not regret picking it up on a whim.

"Fear of a Black Planet", it's not any more smooth but that noise siren-like sound I'm guessing you talk about is not as prominent. Plus there's lots of more awesome samples creatively blended together that gives it a more funk sound than the "noise" trademark.

I used to have this album as my favorite P.E. album but Fear of a Black Planet has actually taken over, kind of strange.

I like it a lot, but I don't understand why people think it's their best album. Fear of a Black Planet is. Forpetesakes, ITANOMTHUB doesn't even have as many samples...
