Biography
Reknir and the Due Opp is a West Seattle native specializing in a mix of electronic, hip-hop, indie rock and pop music. After producing music in San Francisco, Reknir released his debut E.P. just after moving back to Seattle in 2009. The Broken Mic E.P. was a two volume set influenced heavily by unconventional samples and the 'Due Opp' sound.
As explained by Reknir the 'Due Opp' was his transformation from a producer into artist and the experiences that came with. Just as the original 1940's 'Doo-wop' genre was a conglomeration of Blues, Jazz, early R&B and the roots of Rock and Roll, Reknir's 'Due Opp' serves as a similar melding of multiple styles into a cohesive sound that aims to radically change the future of music.
