Before I criticize I'll admit I'm a hypocrite. I like Tame Impalas debut album although it's a very, very Beatles psychedelic era inspiration. This album is IMO too Tool/APC to stand on its own feet. Bass sound and riff patterns, drumming, guitar and the voice sound, dissonant intonation (?) and longer sequences are too "Maynard-style" on several songs. So somehow this album steps over the limit for me. Not saying this is the truth for everybody.

It's definitely influenced by Tool but damn did Rishloo create their unique sound with this! The start of my journey is very promising. This album is awesome! :D

Love this one. Maybe it's not as spectacular as the other two albums, but it's definitely worth listening. Some of their greatest melodies here (Blitz, Narcissist Code, The Water Is Fine) and some of their most epic songs (Fames,Harliquin,Romance of a Dead Kingdom)

i guess the vocals have a particular shade that make them a bit different from that of the king, MJK. very mature and efficient.
