Biography

Rodney Cromwell makes breezy lo-fi synthpop, that sits somewhere between indie and synthpop. The debut album 'Age of Anxiety' combines an pop-sensibility with Krautrock rhythms, melodic bass lines and sounds made by toy instruments and vintage synths such as moogs and ARPs.

Rodney Cromwell (not to be confused with the country singer with a similar name) is the alter ego of Adam Cresswell. Before the album the only previous release under the Rodney Cromwell moniker was a song on a bizarre tribute to The Lord of the Rings back in 2002. At the time Adam was in SALOON (1999-2003) the indie / folkatronica band of which he was founding member and whose career highlights included three LPs (on Darla & Track and Field) album of the year acclaim in the national press, substantial play on US college radio, three Peel Sessions and being voted into John Peel’s Festive 50 on four occasions.

After Saloon split Adam then went on to form ARTHUR & MARTHA (2005-10). This electronic two-piece were compared to Kraftwerk, OMD, Gilbert & George and received rave reviews from the likes of the NME and Artrocker for their album ‘Navigation.’
