(Mexico City-1971). He obtained his Ph.D. in Music Composition with Electro-Acoustic Means at City University, London, England; Degree in Music Composition at Centro de Investigación y Estudios Musicales (CIEM), Mexico City.

During several years he was part of the Composition Workshop with Prof. Mario Lavista and he also was a student with Denis Smalley, Javier Álvarez, Franco Donatoni, Judith Weir, Michel Jarrel, Alejandro Velasco and Juan Trigos, among others.

He finished a post-doctorate at Escuela Nacional de Música (National Music Conservatory) in Mexico City.

Since 2006, he is Director of Centro Mexicano para la Música y las Artes Sonoras CMMAS www.cmmas.org).

Since 1991 he has worked as a composer, sound and recording engineer in Mexico City; London and Santiago de Chile, creating works on chamber and electro-acoustic music; dance, film and other media. From 1994 to 1998 he coordinated the Laboratory for Music with Computer at the Centro de Investigación y Estudios Musicales (CIEM).
Since 1998 he is an active member of the six composers group DAM (www.dam-music.org) and has worked on different inter-disciplinary projects.
Since 2004 he is a member of the council of the Red de Arte Sonoro Latino-Americano (Latin-American Sound Art Network) (www.redasla.org).

He has received grants from FONCA; CIEM, and Banff Centre for the Arts in Canada, ORS, and Sidney Perry Foundation in England, from the Estudio LIEM, from the Ministry of Culture, Spain and from the Agon Studio in Italy.
In 1999 his work “Cycles” was awarded with the first prize in the International Composing Competition “Luigi Russolo” in Italy.
His works “Tolerance” and “Twilight” won the honourable mention in 2000 and 2001 respectively in the same competition, and the second work was a runner-up in the Bourges 2002 competition.
His work “Friction of Things in Other Places” won the 3rd prize in the JTTP 2003 of the CeC (Canada) and the SAN (England).

His work is regularly presented in different countries and is available in more than 13 compact discs.
His discs “Manifiesto” and “Space within” have received excellent reviews and have been broadcasted in radio stations in Mexico and abroad.

He has been developing the laptop and multi-media projects ”Oreja Digital” and “Luminico” along with the flutist Alejandro Escuer; which are performed in different forums in Mexico and abroad.
