Biography

Rosie and The Thorns is: Rosie Sutherland (Songwriter, Vocals, Guitars), Adam Barnett (Bass), Dan Power (Guitars, Drums) and Leah Elliott (Backing Vox). They have been playing the east coast of Australia since 2006 and took the name Rosie and The Thorns in 2008.

R&TT have recorded an album with Mick Wordley (Mixmasters, Adelaide - Jeff Lang, The Yearlings) released in October 2009. Their melodic pop-folk-rock sound has been compared variously to Cat Power, Fleetwood Mac and Crowded House. They have headlined and supported acts such as The Black Sorrows, Crow Feather, Happenstance, Grant Walmsley's Agents of Peace, Louis Tillett and The Brown Birds from Windy Hill.

Rosie Sutherland first came to light in the mid-nineties as the female voice of Andrew Kidman's The Val Dusty Experiment and the double-album soundtrack for their classic surf film 'Litmus - a surfing odyssey' in 1995. They recorded a further album 'Pissing in The Wind' in 1999 and Rosie provided vocals on Andrew Kidman's solo album 'The Spaces in Between', used in his film 'Glass Love'. She sang guest backing vox at 2008 Splendour in the Grass with Kidman's The Brown Birds from Windy Hill.
