"Fast Times" is a single by Sabrina Carpenter, released on February 18, 2022 alongside a music video. It was written by John Ryan, JP Saxe, Julia Michaels and Sabrina Carpenter.

Announced in “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” on January 4, 2022, “Fast Times” is the first single from Carpenter in 2022.

"Fast Times" is about a youthful romance full of impulsive decisions. The story moves quickly, demonstrating how quickly this love affair transpired. In the song Sabrina only focuses on enjoying the present, the emotional repercussions will be processed later.

The song was teased for the first time in New Year’s Day on Sabrina’s Instagram with the caption:

"new music 2022 yes or yes vote below"

Carpenter announced on February 4, 2022 on an Instagram post the date and cover art of the single.

"We weren’t taking ourselves too seriously making it, which really reflects the energy of the song. really about the feeling when you’re letting life steer the wheel and you think ‘Let me enjoy this now and I’ll process the emotional repercussions of this later.‘ very indicative of my 20s thus far."

In an email to her fans, Sabrina said:

"this song makes me feel really excited to be alive!
writing it was one of the coolest experiences because it truly captured how I’ve felt the last few years. seems like we are judged so critically in these times of our lives where we are just figuring everything out. makes us wanna change ourselves or fight our instincts, but we should never fight what our heart is telling us! we just have to take risks, and live and learn from our mistakes. we can’t change the past, we can only learn to accept it, and find the fun in all of it x"
