their best album, and sadly overlooked. wonder how the follow up albums would have sounded differently like if this got a better response on release :(

While I don't want to say "underrated", I always liked this album and never understood why it was disliked by so many of the band's fans. Oh well...

Cracked 2,000 plays :) Love how this album is so different to their other stuff, makes for something interesting and different to listen to without switching bands.

Allow me to be incredibly redundant for a second when I say this album is the most underrated thing on the face of the earth.

One of the most beautiful albums I've ever heard. I feel really lucky to have recently discovered this wonderful band.

I wasn't that into this album when it came out (probably only liked half the songs) but now I really dig it a lot (except for "She," still usually skip that one). On the other hand, I don't like Through Being Cool or Can't Slow Down nearly as much as I used to. Maybe it's because I am a boring adult now.

nice review, very well written. and i have come to the conclusion that in reverie is by far my favorite saves the day album.

I'm glad there seem to be a lot of other people that love this album as much as I do (or nearly so). I think it's one of the best pop albums of the past decade, and definitely the best that they've released (though I still have soft spots for CSD and TBC since those records established my interest in the band 10 years ago). Has it really been that long? Chris's voice is about as dreamy, and soothing as they come on this album (what the hell happened to him afterwards!?), and the whole thing just bounces and bounds along wonderfully. Infinite replay value on the whole, and varied enough songs that it never gets boring. I just wish there was more of it!

Not enough appreciation for this album. Saves the Day fans are really missing out.

i totally agree with djnonplus. i got this album from a girl back in hs like 7 years ago and it was all i had, so i played it and it was really good, their previous stuff is kinda garbage (save a few songs), but this album is sheer genius the whole way through, i want to like this band more though...

this album is absolutely amazing. It's great to listen to saves the day grow as competent musicians from through being cool to stay what you are and finally to in reverie (then turn to complete shit with sound the alarm and under the boards). What a shame. Chris' lyrics on in reverie are powerful and beautifully blended with carefully layered vocals... "The dream dripping sky covers my insides." - from In Reverie "Calling in the frigid wind. A whisper is my dearest friend. Leading me along a lilly laden twisting trail." - from In Reverie Now he sings about maggots eating his face. And getting "fucked up" when thinking about someone. What went wrong?

Of course it turns into a discussion of which albums are better. All I can say is that if for some reason Chris decided to release In Reverie under a different band name I wouldn't have wondered why. That being said, I agree with ZOMG.
