i never really appreciated how nice of a followup this is to IARB. it's not trying to mimic or mock IARB in any way, and although max still presents lyrics that zigzag between sarcastic and profound, you can tell he matured a lot after IARB. i really appreciate this album

Arguably their best album, new style that worked well. Each song just has its own ring to it and flow.

other way around for me. i only like 4 or 5 songs on the first disc, but i love nearly all of the songs on the second.

this album is amazing. Fuck all the haters. This is seriously a masterpiece of lush sounds.

A lot of people hate on this album, but I personally think anything Say Anything does is gold. I think this album is gold. :D

Great album and a worthy successor. there will never be another IARB, but this album is incredibly personal in a different way than IARB, and that's why I appreciate it so much. If you don't like this album, you are not a Say Anything fan.

The album is great, but it gets pretty tiresome towards the end of the second disc.

I loved "...Is A Real Boy", but a few tracks are really growing on me on "In Defense of the Genre"... but still, IDotG is no competition with iaRB. Max Bemis is still a musical god either way [:

I've yet to fully listen to Disc 2 but I must say that Disc 1 was absolutely amazing.

I expected better. I mean the first one was the best CD I ever bought and cheers me up now matter how many times my boyfriend dumps me.

I take back what I said. I tried to like this album, but I can't. There are really only like five decent tracks in the whole lot. In general, this is an album of trite, uninspired pop music. The unique lyrics and interesting song compositions of their last album are gone and replaced with cliche synthesizers and pop punk power chords. Also, The Church Channel is exactly why I hate this album.

A lot of it pales to Is a Real Boy, but I still havent gotten used to how much more synthetic sounding it is. I'm assuming I might grow into it like Minus The Bear's Planet of Ice. There are definitely some winning tracks, just nothing I sing along rampantly to as with the last effort.
