Biography

Seed A.I. was started by Brett Marshall Lefferts and Colin Marshall Wolf in late 2005 out of the ashes of The Cynthia Pratt Project. Originally a side project for Brett's experiments with 8bit consoles and Colin's homebuilt Max/MSP patches, the pairing turned out to be more than they expected. They united out of a goal to create music that was simple and fun to make without thought to production value or the proper way of doing things. They used whatever software and hardware they had at hand to approximate whatever sound they were looking for, trying to leverage their gear shortage into a creative challenge.

The group soon expanded to include Andrew Kraemer on electric guitar textures and solos. The three worked together in Connecticut and played in each other's bands, namely Morningside, Failure's Art, and Buried with the Horse, among others. After a year of recording together off and on they had completed their first album, Lullabies of the Lost, released in March of 2007.

As they started to play out, Colin moved on to other projects and Brett decided to fold a series of other projects into the Seed A.I. umbrella. The group morphed into a collective of musicians and artists that added Dan Gottesman on drums, Jonathan Sorge (aka Electronathan) taking over Colin's electronics, and Ryan Hollitz on visuals.

Their 8bit EP, Songs for Samus, was released in May of 2007.
