Sel'm (2004-2016) was a hard rock/metal visual kei band from Tokyo, Japan. The band was formed in 2004 by vocalist トラ (Tora), guitarist ツバキ (Tsubaki), bassist 拓磨 (Takuma) and drummer MANJ゛. Tora was a member of ギルガメッシュ (girugamesh) for a short time, while the other members of Sel'm had been roadies for bands like Dir en grey, 蜉蝣 (Kagerou) and MERRY.
The band became a quintet in November 2008 when guitarist Nagi, previously known as a member of the disbanded group Viored, joined the lineup.
In 2011, it was announced that vocalist Tora and guitarist Nagi would depart after Sel'm's one-man live at Shibuya O-WEST on April 17, 2011. After the vocalist and guitarist's departure, the band went on a hiatus in order to regroup. With the addition of vocalist 龍蛾 (Ryuuga) and guitarist じょん (John), Sel'm resumed their activities in May 2012 with the release of their second full-length album.
In 2014, it was announced guitarist じょん would leave the band. His last performance with Sel'm was on October 19, 2014 at Shibuya Star lounge. After the departure of the guitarist, the band continued their activities as a four-member group until their disbandment in 2016. The quartet played their last live at Shibuya's TSUTAYA O-WEST on November 28, 2016.
