"Amor Prohibido" (Eng.: Forbidden Love) is the title of the first single released by Selena from her album of the same name. The track was written by A.B. Quintanilla III and Pete Astudillo. The song is widely known as her signature song. The song was awarded "Regional Mexican Song of the Year" at the 1995 "Premio Lo Nuestro" awards. The single debuted at number 13 on the Billboard Hot Latin Tracks in the week of April 23, 1994 and peaked at number one seven weeks later (June 11, 1994), spending 9 weeks in pole position. The single spent seventeen weeks in the Top Ten. The music video for the song "Amor Prohibido" was shot in Joshua Tree, California in 1994.
