710 OIL was formed by Chris Johnson in 1997. In 1998, Chris stole Vincenzo Mastropasqua from a hardcore/death metal band. In 2005, Ian Switz saw an ad in a music store for a band needing a lead guitarist, and within weeks was a member. In 2008, Les Moseley, a longtime friend and audio technician, was called upon to take over as bass guitarist.
In August 2007, they won the 100.5 MAX FM Battle of the Bands. In October of 2007, they released their first self-produced, full length album, No Name. In 2008, and 2009, they were nominated in Portfolio Weekly’s Hampton Roads Music Awards for Best Local Metal/ Hard Rock, and Best Live Performance. Last summer, they released their first music video. This summer, they won the eventful.com contest to open for KISS at the Virginia Beach Amphitheater.
