"Angel" is a 2001 number one hit song by reggae artist Shaggy featuring Rayvon. It was the follow-up to Shaggy's U.S. number-one hit "It Wasn't Me". "Angel" reached number one in the U.S. for the week of 31 March 2001.
The song uses the bassline from "The Joker" by Steve Miller (1973), and also borrows from "Angel of the Morning," written by Chip Taylor and best known by the singer Merrilee Rush.
The music video was directed by Cameron Casey.
The single also reached number one in the UK Singles Chart, as well as number one in Australia, making the song an international chart topper. The success following the release, saw Shaggy clock up his third U.S. and fourth UK number one hit single. It was also a European success, at one point simultaneously topping the charts in the German-speaking territories of Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
The song was the 44th best-selling single of the 2000 decade in UK.
