Biography
Formerly My So-Called Friend.
Shanghai Thrills is a three piece rock band from Boston, Massachusetts. Andrew Sgro (vocals/guitar) founded the band with Dave Trombley (bass) and Tim Carleton (drums) in the summer of [yearformed2007[/yearformed and their genre-bending alternative rock has already created a major buzz in Boston. During the summer of 2007, the boys earned a slot on the 2007 Vans Warped Tour, headlining a stage at the Tweeter Center show.
In November, Shanghai Thrills returned home from a national fall tour: they have opened a sold out Paradise Rock Club and played Boston's Axis, Paradise, and Avalon as well as New York's Arlene's Grocery, The Viper Room in L.A., The Gothic Theater in Colorado and Seattle's Showbox. Intense and energetic, their live performance draws comparisons to such bands as the Foo Fighters, Nirvana, The Toadies, and Spoon.
Shanghai Thrills have begun production on their debut EP, Goodbye Guilt, Hello Lies, with producer Scott Riebling (Fallout Boy/Gym Class Heroes/Cobra Starship/The Academy Is/We The Kings) and plan to release the record in February as they head out for their second national tour. www.ShanghaiThrills.com
