About Shannen Macleason
by Danie Cortese When asked, not many young girls know exactly what they want to do when theyre all grown up. That being said, Shannen Macleason is the exception. From the tender age of 9, where her songwriting and musical endeavors began, Shannen knew that a career in music was her destiny. Gifted with the ability to play piano and guitar without ever being taught, she quickly understood that performing on stage was something she planned to do for the rest of her life. As a young girl growing up in Portugal, Shannen began entering songwriting contests to showcase her talents. At 16 she won the Christian Song Contest in her local church for her outstanding lyrics and went on to write, direct and produce a tribute musical to the 15th century Portuguese Discoverers. Many successes followed and Shannen Macleason, while still young, was beginning to make her mark in the industry as a beautifully talented songstress. When her young and instant success began to quiet, Shannen felt as though she had hit a rut in her career. Feeling the uncertainty of her future in entertainment, she chose to attend University and majored in Diplomacy and European law. But it wasnt long before this unique songbird realized that her heart belonged in music and she quickly returned to her roots. Now, older and wiser with over 500 original songs written and 3 musicals, Shannen is looking forward to breaking through and taking the music industry by storm. In 2002 she was accepted as a member at the Coral Encontro lead by one of the most internationally famous Portuguese musical directors Jorge Carvalho Alves and was instantly chosen as one of the semi-finalists of the first Youth Talent Contest in her hometown. Shannen Macleason has just recently signed onto Danie Cortese Entertainment Inc. This agency and publicity firm is an international organization recognized for representing Emmy nominees as well as some of the most promising new Canadian and International talent on the entertainment circuit. With all her hard work, determination and undying talent, it is without question that we will all be hearing a lot of Ms. Macleason in the future.
