The music of Shenandoah And The Night is steeped in the tradition of American folk with elements of doo-wop and haunting vocals. Their latest body of work details a nation of endless highways, sunsets and life on the road.
Over the past eight years, front woman, Shenandoah Ableman has been singing and dancing with the Yard Dogs Road Show, with whom she has been featured in Spin Magazine twice: first, in the Best of 2007 issue and again in September 2008.
She has had the great privilege of performing across this great nation, the United Kingdom, Ireland, France, and Portugal, has performed at prestigious festivals as Bonnaroo, Vegoose, Langarado, Glastonbury, The Electric Pic-nic; and honorable venues such as The Fillmore in both San Francisco and in Denver, The Bijou Theatre in Knoxville Tennessee, Theatro Circo in Braga Portugal, and Spiegel World in New York City.
Keyboard player Kwame Brandt- Pierce is a member of Saul Williams touring ensemble and has performed nationally and internationally at events including the Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland.
Drummer Sean Hutchinson, also performing with a San Francisco Jam- Rock Quintet, New Monsoon, has performed with a diverse array of other artists including Warren Haynes (Alman Brother Band,) Aaron and Ivan Neville (Neville Brothers,) George Porter (the Meters,) Michael Shrieve (Santana,) Jerry Harison (Talking Heads,) Karl Denson, and Jeff Coffin (Bela Fleck.)
Hailing from the belly of the YDRS tour bus, among mustard fields, Moab desert skies, and music halls of all shapes and size the music of Shenandoah and the Night was born.
They are currently recording their debut EP scheduled to be released in the spring 2011, which details a nation of endless highways, sunsets and life on the road.
