I've often wondered how many people see the cover of this album and think that it's by Ed Sheeran...

This music really manages to reach the deepest part of my soul. My personal favourites are #3 and #7 but the whole album is a great listen. I really like the light and dark of this album and I think having that equilibrium there particularly resonates with me.

I wanted to like this album, but my problem with it and "Hopelandic" is that nearly every word begins with "Ys" followed by limited combinations of "o", "u", "l", "a", "i", and rarely "f". After a song or two I could only take so much of constant "Ysolalai", "yulosoi", "ysalafiu", etc. I finished the album but in the end, the yusol-yusaling in every word is too distracting and irritating for me to enjoy it :<

The climax of Untitled 6 (E-Bow) reminds me so much of Golden Sun: The Lost Age.

I literally don't understand where people who prefer the first half are coming from, unless they flat-out just don't like sad music. The first half is pretty enough, but the second half is transcendent - it's devastating in the best possible way and evokes emotions and atmospheres not too many other bands have ever quite managed for me. Honestly, I don't think I've ever heard anything else quite like it. I'm not going to say this is the best post-rock album ever because of GY!BE's entire catalogue, but this album is still truly special from start to finish.

maybe they think the second half is boring, i listened a lot to this album and for me, #5 sounds a lot like #2, #6 doesn't bring much to me, I like #7 jonsi vocals but #8 is maybe a bit malfunctioning as the end can sound unclear at some points. but #1, #2, #3, #4 are easier to listen and more diverses, I listen a lot to them four in a row

The second half has always been my favorite half, actually. #6, #7 and #8 are damn brilliant. Each to their own, I guess.

First half is really great, other half - a little bit disappoints me. Anyway, this album has its own magic.

Too bad that after great 4 tracks next ones are disappointing, and only the last track picks up the greatness - and how it picks up! The best Sigur track is the 8th untitled one. Though said - Ágætis >>> this, where each track is a masterpiece.

I know this is shameless self-promotion, but if you guys enjoy this album like I have for years, you might like my own self-released album. It's a collection of ambient tracks, but it's hugely inspired by Sigur Rós, Riceboy Sleeps, Brian Eno, etc. so if you're into any of those fine names you might like this!! You can find it at bestghosts.bandcamp.com

'This is the best Sigur Rós album by far, and one of the best albums of all time. This is *the* post-rock album. Every song on this album is remarkable. Every second of it is oozing with either beauty, suspense, or some form of marvel, and sometimes all of these at once' [2]
