Biography

Simon Fagan (born May 23 , 1981, in Navan, Ireland) is an Irish singer-songwriter. His debut EP, Hired and Fired, was released in 2009 and his debut album, Outside Looking In, was released in 2010.

While comparisons have been drawn on Fagan’s style with Ray Lamontagne, Ryan Adams and Paolo Nutini, this Irish born & raised guy has been working on perfecting his own sound from a very young age. Joining his local brass band while still at school was where his love of the trumpet was born. This classically-trained composer & trumpet player studied at both the Royal Irish Academy of Music and the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama. Of his sound Fagan says “you will find elements of jazz, soul, acoustic and rock which I guess comes from listening to artists like Credence, Van Morrrison, Miles Davis and Stevie Wonder, however, my influences stretch well beyond these icons”.

In the two years following his graduation, Fagan spent some time singing with a number of bands both Glasgow and Dublin before going solo in late 2007 and this is where he feels happiest and most productive. It was at this time that he started writing music closer to him using jazz and soul to produce his own take on old-fashioned rock ‘n roll. He has since opened for both Lionel Richie and Smokey Robinson and performed lead vocals at the Beatle’s ‘Love’ Concert in the National Concert Hall.

His debut EP, Hired and Fired, was released in 2009 and his debut album, Outside Looking In, was released in 2010.
