Devouring Radiant Light is a journey to a new direction with delicious, colossal and melodic riffs. Temple of the Sun is amazing

I didn’t think I’d like the new album but it kind of breathes some new life into them.

Meh... I like all their previous blackened thrash releases a lot. They were really outstanding in this genre. Their melodic black metal however is solid, but just... nothing special. Heard that kind of stuff hundreds of times before, often better. So, I'm not too fond of their new style and the new album. :/

For one, the drums sound like garbage; they're buried in the mix, the snare is muddy and the kicks are barely audible, and on top of that the master is terribly compressed, ending up with a record that has very little dynamics (sonically, not musically.

Ballou did not mixed and mastered the Album. Frederik Nordström did the Mix and Brad Boatright mastered it.

True, dunno how I missed that. It still stands that the production is garbage though, and he's credited as the produced, so you gotta blame someone, I guess. All three did a bad job anyways.

I'm probably going to be alone here but this feels like their weakest album. The songs kind of meander and the creativity just isn't there. I miss the melody and journey that the songs take you on. It's just bland in too many places and feels off.

Maybe if you actually had CD quality at the very least, instead of the .mp3 leak with mistagged songs, you'd like it more.

No it was sarcasm as the quality of the rip has nothing to do with how a strong is constructed. Opinions rarely change going from 320kbps to FLAC. I've warmed up to the album but it's still their weakest and Skeletonwitch is my top listened band.

Modern Thrash/Black is often regarded as repetitive and unoriginal -- Fen of Shadows is a very solid track. Different, but unique. This year may be interesting.

That's because the first band people think of these days is Hot Topic Holocaust.

Fen of Shadows is one of the best songs I’ve heard so far this year. Very different sound for them but man it sounds great.

Good band, but too much black metal influences are present in their last EP. But maybe it was always but I didn't notice it.

Saw them live in 2009 headlining just coming off the release of Breathing The Fire. Best show I've ever been to.

My thoughts exactly. Still love all their stuff though. New different sounding EP and a new singer was probably best for this band. They needed a change. Hope the next album kills

New EP is amazing. Sure it sucks that Chance is gone but they're still killing it.

I'm going to go ahead and roll my eyes at any and all comments stating that Skeletonwitch cannot continue on without Garnette on vocals. While he is certainly very good at his style of vocals he is by no means iconic. You can plug in any death/black metal vocalist and the band will sound just fine.
