Biography
Snow Electric is the moniker used by Nickolas Monson when performing and recording music. His first full length, entitled Snow Electric, was released in 2009, and features some re-recorded versions of songs appearing on previous EPs as well as a number of new songs.
While many songs on the album feature a band, live performances are generally solo. This may soon change, as Nickolas is working on forming a band and rehearsing, with the intention of playing a number of shows this spring with a full band. Picking up the sticks will be Garrison Grouse, who played drums on the album and is better known as the guitarist and frontman of Modern Fonts. Bass will be provided by another member of Modern Fonts, Daniel Dolan.
Nickolas started using this name in 2006, playing open mics at the University of Minnesota's Duluth campus while attending school there. While in Duluth, he wrote and recorded a few songs, which came to be known as An Underground City by the Lake EP.
In 2007, Nickolas returned to his hometown, Minneapolis, after leaving UMD to study Sound Arts at MCTC. He began to write and record material for another release, one that was never finished. The working title was The Clouds Are Crashing Together, which is somewhat misleading as the song with the same title wasn't yet recorded.
