It has almost been 9 years since the release of World Metal. I hope well for the boys and if a new album is coming out, then one can also hope for a repress of their full discography as well. Seeing them live would be a treat. Seeing Borknagar last year just made me miss Solefald.

"The Linear Scaffold" is the definitive Norwegian Black Metal album of the 90's, surpassed by Borknagar namesake.

It's also their only really great record, and the demo, of course. After that they may have technically excelled their prior works, but lost their innocent, primal approach to black metal.

Well, this is an experimental project and album and there are a lot of jumps from one style to another, so I don't know if it's legitimate to generally call it symphonic metal. But yes, this album has symphonic (also black and progressive) elements in various places. Depending on the definition, this fact alone may give reason to call it avant-metal. (I wrote the previous message due to the fact that in further albums, as far as I remember, there are even fewer black / post-black elements until they disappear completely).

now mean post-black are blackgaze (maybe earlier meant others bands under this genre).

I think they're still around but they have busy lives. I apologise for the dread that I have caused

Cornelius stated on Facebook last summer that they are working on new album but this won't be fast :(

I’ve always enjoyed Solefald and their avant-garde black metal theatrics –but Kosmopolis is on another level. As good as anything they have done before (dare I say it could even be their best?).

Yeah, 2011 really caught me off-guard lyrically. It was really hard hitting for a Solefald track

As a fanboy I enjoy all of their releases to some extent but World Metal might be their best album since the Neonism days. I hope they'll remain in this wacky direction instead of rehashing the norse thing yet again.

Kosmopolis Sud is brilliant! Exactly what i expected to be and these lads didn't disappoint. It deserves a lot of attention to be properly appreciated. Those are quite clever tracks there. Keep it up guys! Oh and Cornelius, sir, i am hungry for new Sturmgeist material if possible. ;)

> Xephiroth : yep, their way of approaching Norwegian folk reminds me of the latest Dead Can Dance albums (especially Into the Labyrinth and Spiritchaser). ps : to those who didn't know, the two last tracks of the EP are actually remixes of Norrønasongen, so that's why there is that recurring melody going on.
