Sometymes Why is an American folk-noir group formed in 2005 by Kristin Andreassen (Uncle Earl, Footworks), Ruth Ungar (The Mammals), and Aoife O'Donovan (Crooked Still).

The trio released their debut album in 2005 titled "Sometimes Why". Their album "Your Heart is a Glorious Machine" was released in 2009

They were initially called Sometimes Why but changed the band name to Sometymes Why as there is a Canadian band with the earlier name. The title of their first album (both for the original black edition and the new silver edition) remains "Sometimes Why."

Since touring in support of their 2009 album, the band members have pursued their individual solo careers while also periodically touring as Sometymes Why.
